KEMAH
Originally named Evergreen, this quaint town was renamed Kemah in 1907. This is an Indian word that means "wind in the face." In its early days, Kemah was home to farmers, fishing camps and a vacation spot for Houston and Galveston residents.
Though one of the areas smaller communities with a population of approximately 2,300, this hamlet is a gateway for boating, fishing, dinning and shopping. The Kemah Boardwalk, a 14-acre complex featuring restaurants, shops and amusement park rides, is popular with residents and visitors year round. Kemah has the third largest fleet of recreational boats in the United States.

Education
Public (K-12): Kemah is served by the Clear Creek Independent School District. CCISD has approximately 32,000 students in 34 schools and has earned a "recognized" status from the Texas Education Agency accountability rating system. The "recognized" rating is the highest designation earned to date by any school district with more than 25,000 students. Clear Creek ISD is the 28th largest of the 1,046 school districts in Texas.
Colleges: Though there is not a college directly in Kemah, residents are just minutes away from the Univesity of Houston-Clear Lake, College of the Mainland and San Jacinto College.

SEABROOK
In 1895, Seabrook W. Sydnor purchased a portion of land on the Texas Gulf Coast that today is known as Seabrook. The city wasn´t incorporated until 1961 as a way to avoid annexation by Hosuton or La Porte. In 1964, a new bridge was built between the cities of Kemah and Seabrook and State Highway 146 was established leading to unprecedented growth for Seabrook and an estimated population of more than 8,000.
Seabrook has 11 miles of waterfront and 1,250 boat slips. The city covers 12.5 square miles including waterfront property. With 10 parks consisting of more than 100 acres, two boat ramps, two public pools and a 900-foot salt water-fishing pier, there is plentiful open space for family activities.

Public (K-12): Seabrook students are served by the Clear Creek Independent School District. Bay Elementary has earned an "Exemplary" rating from the Texas Education Agency and Seabrook Intermediate is ranked as a "recognized" school. High School students attend Clear Creek High School which also serves other communities in the area.
