LEAGUE CITY
Situated on the south shore of Clear Lake and directly on Interstate 45, League City is within 30 minutes driving time of downtown Houston. With a population of more than 45,000 residents and encompassing 55 square miles, League City is one of the fastest growing cities in the Houston metro area. The area employment base includes aerospace (NASA's Johnson Space Center), petrochemical, touring/boating/ recreation and corporate headquarters.
League City´s origins date back to 1825 when Stephen F. Austin first settled the area. J.C. League began acquiring land in Galveston County in the 1890s. In 1896, he changed the name of this holding from Butler Ranch to League City.

Public (k-12): League City´s public education is provided by the Clear Creek Independent School District. CCISD has approximately 32,000 students in 34 schools and has earned a "recognized" status from the Texas Education Agency accountability rating system. The "recognized" rating is the highest designation earned to date by any school district with more than 25,000 students. Clear Creek ISD is the 28th largest of the 1,046 school districts in Texas. BR> Colleges and universities: Residents of League City are just minutes away from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. College of the Mainland has a satellite campus in League City.

League City is just minutes away from the Gulf Coast. Marinas are plentiful in this area as are eating and entertainment complexes in Kemah and Seabrook.
